Abstract

|
This study is to assess the clinical effectiveness of the PAP poultice (Zenol¢ç) in 74 patients suffering from degenerative arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, sprain, low back strain, frozen shoulder etc. Zenol¢ç poultice distributed evenly on lint, 20 to 40 gm a day, had been applied topically for 1 to 4 weeks.
And the results are as follows;
1. Out of the 74 cases, 4(5.4%) showed a remarkable effect, 51 (68.9%) showed a good effect and 12(16.2%) showed a slight effect. The overall
efficacy rate was 90.5%.
2. Subjective symptoms were markedly improved in 2 cases of degenerative arthritis of the knee, 1 case of low back strain and 1 case of gout.
3. No specific side effects were presented except heat, cold and some tightening sentations. Therefore, Zenol¢ç could be used, regardless of age, in gastropathes, hepatopathes or pregnant women to whom oral antiinflammatory or analgesic drugs should be given very cautiously.
